The consequences of the global coronavirus epidemic, which suddenly began at the beginning of 2020, continue to affect the world to this day. The epidemic, as a global his-torical event, has had a profound and far-reaching impact on the education sector. Today's distance learning environment, in which epidemic prevention and control is the norm, has profound implications and challenges for music education in higher education institutions.
The article presents the theoretical and practical aspects of the organization of musical correctional work with children of primary school age with intellectual disabilities. The importance of the emotional and volitional sphere in the mental development of a child is revealed, and the effectiveness of music as one of the key means of correcting and developing emotional and volitional qualities is substantiated. The fundamental provisions of domestic and foreign researchers devoted to the specifics of mental processes in children with intellectual disabilities and the potential of musical art in the formation of their emotional and volitional regulation are considered. The conducted experiment is described. It is concluded that it is necessary to include music in the comprehensive support of children with intellectual disabilities and provides recommendations for further improvement of correctional work.
