The article analyzes the problem of interaction of modern preschoolers with books, as well as attitudes towards them. According to numerous observations, it turns out that children are limited in the use of literature for a number of reasons (for example, adult interest is not instilled). Because of this, preschoolers who have a lesser effect of interacting with books are characterized by an underestimated potential in development (since the book is a source of upbringing, development, education). The question comes to the fore, by what means to instill children's interest in using books to teachers when parents do not seek to do so. The authors analyzed the methods and techniques of instilling a positive attitude of children to books. The great role of productive activity in this process is shown. Attention is focused on the method of projects for children of the preparatory group at the preschool stage of education (5-6 years old). In the course of the research, we have developed a project for older preschool children «The History of the Book», the main goals of which should be to instill interest in books, gain new knowledge about books for children, experiment with books (create their own book), participate in productive and creative activities. The global essence of the project is the harmonious comprehensive development of an older preschool child through interaction with a book in the process of creative activity. At the end of the study, the methodological base for introducing children to books will be enriched with a new design development.
