The author presents the results of the study of modern students’ views on professionally important qualities of an "ideal" and "real" high school teacher.

It has been established that the personal qualities of psychologists are characterized by wide variability observed both at the stage of university education and for working specialists. Interrelations between the factors of the Big Five and professional orientation are revealed.
