The article is devoted to the assessment of environmental protection costs. An analysis of funding for federal projects that form the NP “Ecology” was carried out. Attention is paid to the NP “Ecological well-being”, which will be implemented from January 1, 2025 to replace the NP “Ecology”. To reduce budget expenditures on environmental protection, it is proposed to improve environmental insurance.

The article examines the implementation of national projects in the regions of the Southern Federal District. The necessity of using these projects to improve citizens' quality of life and address their most pressing issues is demonstrated.
