The article discusses some of the national-cultural components of the temporal word “Monday” in Russian and identifies the reasons for the negative connotations of this day. The linguocultural aspect allows us to consider the noun Monday as a component of the linguistic picture of the world. The characteristics specific to Monday and the associated prescriptions are defined. As an illustrative material attracts the various phraseological units, the statements from the Internet space and newspapers.

This article examines the irrational factors of people's knowledge of the surrounding reality. In their series, prayers, superstitions, prejudices, omens, talismans, etc. are characterized by these factors, the features of their influence on the psyche of people, in particular, on the reduction of negative mental States and their stabilization. Some reasons for the formation and development of these formations in the psyche of people are revealed.
