The article considers theoretical aspects of interaction of school and family as an important factor of child’s adaptation to school. Global informatization processes actively invaded into leisure space through computer games. The article analyzes the effect of virtual and real games in the first-grader’s adaptation process, the main problems are highlighted and solution ways are targeted.
One of the manifestations of school disadaptation are somatic illnesses of schoolchil-dren, who may have different prerequisites for the emergence.
The article reveals main problems of adaptation of children to schooling, considers various interpretations of the concept of illuminated levels of the adaptation process. Presents the results of research to identify the level of adaptation of Junior pupils to the educational process.

In the article, from the theoretical and empirical points of view, the positions and conclusions based on the empirical material are examined, the structural and content components of the students' social adaptation are revealed, they form the integral conceptual scientific apparatus on the topic under study.

The article reveals the essence of the concepts "adaptation" (from the point of view of different scientific fields), "social adaptation", "pedagogical adaptation", "psychological adaptation". On their basis, the author gives his definition of "psychological and pedagogical adaptation" category. He also notes the peculiarities of psychological-pedagogical adaptation to school for children with mental retardation and the indigenous peoples of the North. Taking into account the identified features, the author studies the methodological approaches to psychological and pedagogical adaptation to school for children with mental retardation: bilingual and ethnic.
