. In her article, the author presents the experience of professional competence comprehension as one of the competence approach components in modern pedagogy. It is shown that in the theoretical aspect professional competence is characterized by the level of qualification development in the work. The analysis of approaches to understanding the term, structure and components of a higher school teacher professional competence is presented.

The article considers communicative competence as one of the components of the competence approach in higher education. Presented, its structure and components; describes levels of communicative competence of teacher of high school.
