In practice, the use of information technologies in the learning process becomes an indispensable element of various forms of learning, aimed at improving the effectiveness of this process. The article discusses the issues of optimizing the educational interaction between a teacher and students in the university education system using the example of the virtual training Moodle system which is used to support and connect learning on the principle of "teacher-student". Based on a review of "information technology" and "information competence" concepts, the authors make an attempt to determine the specificity of the electronic training platform Moodle, to understand its capabilities and prospects. The authors set the goal - to share the experience of this platform using in the educational process. Based on the results of students and teachers questioning, they present analysis of the Moodle training platform shortcomings and advantages. The possibilities and ways of "Test" resource using are investigated. Recommendations for its use as a means of controlling students' knowledge are given. The issues of a more extensive use of the Moodle system capabilities are discussed not only in the context of teacher and student face-to-face interaction, but also concerning the entire educational institution. It is about the work of the administration, managers, tutors in the virtual system, for example, about entering, sending down, transfers, appointments of scholarships - information that is important for the student and ensuring its timeliness, transparency and accessibility will confirm the mobility of management at all levels. In other words, competent use of all Moodle system capabilities will allow to achieve a rating level for providing a wide range of educational services.
