The article considers different approaches towards defining the term of "discourse cognitive modeling" caused by its interdisciplinary nature. The article provides the author's understanding of this term that arises from cognitive as well as communicative nature of discourse regarding this phenomenon as a message that both compiles and generates knowledge.

The paper regards the means of maintaining the force of fictional titles of the English origin in the process of translation from English into Russian. The analysis proves that the most acceptable ways of translating titles and maintaining their pragmatic force are transformation and substitution. The choice depends on linguistic and cultural peculiarities of the target language.

The paper deals with linguistic features of characters' interaction in the communicative situation “interper-sonal conflict”. The characters' basic interactional strategies in conflict situation are aggressive and tolerant ones. The choice of a strategy depends upon the speakers' personal communicative aims, their status and social roles, level of their education and cultural background.
