This article is dedicated to exploring the status of teaching ESP in the increasingly globalized economic environment to identify the mainstreaming trends in teaching and learning foreign languages for specific purposes. The author discusses the necessity of integrative approaches to formation of professional linguistic competences and academic skills at Economic Universities, bringing innovative technologies into teaching and learning foreign languages for specific purposes, and various topics of interdisciplinary research.
