The article examines the analysis of the semantics and cultural background of the color words of the Russian language “red” and “yellow”. The study mainly describes the original meaning and figurative meanings of the adjective “red”, and also analyzes its cultural origin and development associated with different meanings.

The question of the language status in the Internet communication is an actual one for the modern linguistics, this issue is revealed in this article. The language features of internet discourse are marked here on the basis of the relevant sources’ observations.
