The article discusses the reasons for the appearance of a new discipline «Native language» in the curriculum, the difference between the discipline «Russian language» and the discipline «Native language». The author touches on issues related to the difficulties of teaching a new subject and the attitude of students to it. The article also shows the principle of selection of linguistic material in this discipline and provides a deep analysis of the reasons for such selection.
