The article analyses and compares the results of the linguocultural experiments held in 1998 and 2018 and highlights the factors influencing the language and cultural pictures of the world.

The article considers the ways of interpreting smile as a component of nonverbal communication in cross-cultural interaction. The author explores the attitude to smile in the Western world, in Russian culture and in the countries of Eastern culture and gives analysis of the survey aimed at examining the attitude of Russian students to interpreting smile and its meaning as a cross-cultural phenomenon.
