The article discusses the modern foreign views on the role and place of educational robotics in the educational process. Educational robotics is considered in the framework of the following approaches: as part of computer science, devoted to the study of the basics of automated device control; as an element of STEM education; as a way to teach programming; as an element of the game / sports / competition sphere; as a tool for organizing student project activities. The conclusion is drawn on the importance of educational robotics for modern foreign pedagogy and the increased attention paid by researchers to the problem of incorporating educational robotics into an integrated pedagogical system.
In the modern world, almost all scientists link medium-term trends in the development of society and the economy with their digitalization to some extent in their works. Today, new digital technologies and innovative business models are permeating all spheres of society. Those skills that are necessary for a person to be successful in their subject area are usually divided into "soft" and "hard" (hard skills and soft skills). At the same time, the study of the basics of robotics can be attributed to hard skills. This article discusses the concepts of "digital skills", "educational robotics", analyzes these concepts, describes the main directions of development of educational robotics today.
The article discusses the possibilities of the course of educational robotics in the formation of meta-subject competencies of students at the stage of primary general education. The article contains examples of the use of technologies and techniques of meta-subject training based on the LegoWeDo 2.0 constructor based on the workbooks «Robotics» for grades 2-4 by D.I. Pavlov, M.Y. Revyakin, edited by L.L. Bosova, BINOM Publishing house.
Article discusses the usage of the method of heuristic research case «Goldberg Machine» in educational robotics. The stages of creation the Machine are considered зfrom the point of view of robotics.
