The article presents the results of the study of the problem of acquaintance of preschool children with the ideas of form, which show a spontaneous interest in such mathematical categories as shape, geometric shapes and learn to connect them with each other, forming knowledge and skills. The author proposes to consider this problem from two sides: in terms of sensory perception of geometric shapes and their use as standards in the knowledge of the forms of surrounding objects, as well as in terms of knowledge of the features of their structure, properties, basic relationships and patterns in their construction.

the article deals with the methodology of studying the area of geometric shapes in primary school. The reasons for difficulties that occur in third-graders when studying the topic are indicated. As a means to overcome difficulties, the authors proposed multi-level tasks.
This scientific article is devoted to the study of the process of forming ideas about geometric shapes in primary school students. The paper examines the influence of various teaching methods on the formation of ideas about geometry in children, as well as the peculiarities of learning educational material, depending on the individual characteristics of students.
