The article is devoted to the problem of using language means of expressiveness in the headlines of the newspaper “Yakutsk Vecherny”. The socio-political weekly has been published since 1994 and is one of the most popular Russian-language newspapers in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). The newspaper positions itself as an independent and liberal publication, which is reflected not only in the presentation of the material, but also in the expressive-stylistic features of the headlines.

The article is devoted to the problem of language manipulation in newspaper headlines. Various definitions of the term «language manipulation» are listed, its goals and features are indicated. The use of means of language manipulation is given on the example of the headlines of the socio-political weekly «Yakutsk Vecherny». The materials of the article can be used in teaching students of humanitarian specialties and will be of interest to everyone who studies the issues of manipulating consciousness.
