This article discusses the main approaches to the study of manipulation of consciousness, their advantages and limits of application. The author proves the need for a systematic approach to social and philosophical research manipulation.

The article is devoted to the problem of language manipulation in newspaper headlines. Various definitions of the term «language manipulation» are listed, its goals and features are indicated. The use of means of language manipulation is given on the example of the headlines of the socio-political weekly «Yakutsk Vecherny».
