The relevance of the problem under study is due to the changing paradigm of the Russian education system, the introduction of new state educational standards at all levels. Under these conditions, the system of choreographic special education, including the only choreographic college named after Akseniya and Natalia Poselskykh in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), which provides professional training in the field of choreographic art, is undergoing radical transformations. With the introduction of new standards, the system of secondary vocational education was not sufficiently prepared for the radical changes taking place in society. Pedagogical groups do not have scientifically based recommendations concerning the organization of educational work, there are no methodological approaches to the study of the basic component of the state educational standard of the medical and biological cycle such as biology, chemistry, physics, etc. However, the development of thinking culture among the students concerning the use of certain chemicals, conscious and safe handling of these substances, learning the rules of rational and balanced nutrition in everyday life is directly associated with these disciplines. Their learning contributes to the establishment of such valuable concepts as “healthy lifestyle”, "culture of health", "food culture", etc. The purpose of the article is to form cognitive interest by organizing an elective course “Chemistry and Healthy Nutrition” for students of the ballet school (college). A survey (questionnaire) “Cognitive interest in the subject of chemistry” was conducted during the study. The results of the survey indicate that students do not show enough interest in the subject of chemistry. This elective course “Chemistry and Healthy Nutrition” will make it possible to promote a cognitive interest in the subject of chemistry, to develop skills in the use of chemicals, conscious and safe handling of these substances, to learn the rules of a rational and balanced diet.
