The paper deals with the different approaches to the delineation of polysemy and homonymy in linguistic terminology. Examples of different lexicographic representations of linguistic terms are described, as a lexical-semantic variant of a multivalued word or a separate lexical unit (homonym).

This article examines the stages of the formation of English dictionaries, their features peculiar to a certain period of lexicography. Attention is also paid to the use of certain words in a particular situation and the main problems of the theory and practice of compiling dictionaries.

This article deals with the problem of storagefeminitives in modern dictionaries. Word-forming suffixes are identified in the analyzed lexemes. Their frequency is determined thanks to diagrams. The aspect dictionary of feminitives is considered in its comparison with explanatory dictionaries.

The article highlights the role of K.K. Yudakhin as an outstanding lexicographer of Kyrgyzstan, the creator of the first Russian-Kyrgyz and Kyrgyz-Russian dictionaries; the great educational value of the biography of the Russian scientist for the formation of the professional qualities of future language teachers is revealed.
