The article discusses the problem questions of the legal and procedural mediator’s status in the Russian criminal procedure. Author focuses on a problem of mediator`s professional skills in resolving criminal law conflicts. Also, the problem of the lack of legislative regulation of the principles, which the mediator carries out his activities, is highlighted in the article. Author proposes possible solutions to solve these problematic issues.

The report discusses the role and place of modern cities in International Relations and World Politics. Based on the analysis of various approaches to the study of cities, an attempt was made to expand the content of the concept of «global city». The influence of city diplomacy, the institution of twin cities on the development of interaction between states in various fields, including security issues, is noted. The main emphasis is placed on the role of cities that, while not being recognized as global are nevertheless centers of gravity on the international arena, and also serve as the representative of their country. In other words, they are the spokesmen of the domestic and foreign policy of national state, promote its positive image in the world community.

The article focuses on mentoring as an effective tool of organizing and mediating the work of foreign students in the university. The author describes peculiarities of adaptation of foreign students specifying the role of mentor-mediator at each stage of the educational and adaptational processes. Real life and aca-demic cases are provided to illustrate the author’s ideas.

The article analyzes the current state of legal competencies acquired by future legal specialists. The author sees a special role in the skills of peaceful conflict resolution to achieve executable solutions, in positioning a lawyer as a specialist with broad capabilities in the use of various fields of knowledge. Obtaining new knowledge, skills and abilities should become the basis for ex-panding both professional and personal competencies. The lawyer of the future should be aimed at reducing conflict in society.
