The article discusses the concept of professional competencies of mechanical technicians. The features of their formation with the use of practice-oriented training are analyzed, namely: combined lessons, project method. Since in modern market conditions of economic development of the production sector, high requirements are placed on technological readiness, professional skills in the broadest sense. The article examines the results of a survey of students about the personal qualities of a counselor.
