The article presents the results of empirical research aimed at revealing the relationship be-tween age and gender characteristics and an individual's propensity to superstition. The authors compare the level of propensity to superstition in the samples of men and women of different age groups and give the rationale for the obtained results. It is shown that age and gender peculiarities influence the formation of superstition and magical thinking. At the same time, women show a greater propensity to superstition than men. The propensity to superstition and magical thinking de-creases with age. Superstition and magical thinking can have a negative impact on self-image and interpersonal interaction which can be counteracted with group or individual psychocorrective work.
The article presents the results of an empirical study of the relationship between codependency and hardiness in women with adverse childhood experiences (ACE). The sample consisted of 153 women aged 25–45 years. The following methods were used: Adverse Childhood Experiences International Questionnaire (ACE-IQ, adapted by A.A. Kibitov et al.), Hardiness Test by S. Maddi (adapted by D.A. Leontiev, E.I. Rasskazova), and Spann-Fischer Codependency Scale (adapted by A.A. Berdichevsky et al.). A statistically significant negative correlation was found between hardiness and codependency (r = –0.625, p < 0.001). A dose-dependent effect of ACE was established: a significant increase in the level of codependency occurs with the accumulation of six or more adverse events in childhood. The data obtained substantiate the need to develop the components of hardiness (commitment and control) as targets for psychocorrectional work with women who have traumatic childhood experiences.
