The article summarizes the practical experience of forming the research competencies of university students in the context of socialization. The classification of research competences developed by the author by types of activity can be of special practical importance for university lecturers.

Structural element of competence an individual style of educational and professional activities as a product of self-development of the learner. It allows to speak about a new research paradigm of student youth as a major indicator of the level of readiness for professional activity.

The given publication is devoted to the research competence of future teachers in the conditions of a modern university and the means of its formation. For the successful formation and development of research competence, it is necessary to use various pedagogical tools. These include project activities, research work, work with sources, methods of problem-based learning and others. Along with the tools, an important role is played by such conditions as: the creation of research centers and laboratories, the organization of scientific conferences and seminars, the involvement of students in scientific projects and the use of modern information technologies.
