The article provides an analysis of the stages of formation of speech etiquette and methods of work in the basic secondary school. The communicative exercises given as an example allow students to show communication situations in which certain formulas of speech etiquette are used. The set of exercises ends with a speech task, where students are invited to compose dialogues on their own, and a conscious command of speech patterns in specific situations is demonstrated.
