In the article main principles of model construction of extra-mural students’ self-educational activity in the conditions of distance learning a foreign language are considered. Components and the stages of self-educational activity connected with mastering of the educational information in the conditions of distance training are revealed. The article focuses on the problem of teaching international students majoring in engineering and science communication in the English language in the professional sphere. The authors show that in a foreign language classroom the skills of using professional terminology in English and in Russian and learning the language of science are not less important than developing language and communicative skills; so they are to be given equal attention to. Study-guides are to be developed with the view to the necessity of interacting in three languages.
The article discusses the importance of the formation of soft skills in the training of future specialists in the field of international relations in a foreign language. It analyzes the results of an online survey of international relation students on the need to possess "soft" skills in future professional activity. The students note the importance of the formation of soft skills during the professional training.
