The author analyses social processes’ influence on Russian and English languages. Depending on the development of the society, on the actual tends, new words appear to reflect the reality. English is becoming more and more widespread, one may notice a tendency to Russification and the English words transition to Russian without special transformations. It is facilitated by politics, sports, music, public unrest and performances, television and other social institutions.

The article discusses the reasons for the emergence of slang and its varieties. Examples of the use of slang words by different age groups are given. The results of a test survey of students and teachers are presented; a list of slang words formed mainly from English words is prepared based on the data. Infographics with frequently used words are provided. The active use of slang among young people, in social networks and on television is noted.
