The article discusses the possibility of using creative tasks in the interrelated teaching reading and speaking. The advantages of creative tasks as incentives for active mental activity of cadets in similar to professional activity situations are given. The possibilities of monotext and polytext tasks are analyzed. The article presents creative tasks of different level with visual support, successfully used in Aviation English classes.
The article considers the project method as one of the effective methods of teaching professionally oriented English to future aviation specialists of different stages of training and specialties. The project method is considered as a way of forming the speech competence of cadets, deepening professional knowledge and motivating cadets to study.
The article deals with the notion of lexico-grammatical skills. The author has made an attempt to elaborate criteria and levels to assess the lexico-grammatical skills of Air Force Academy cadets. As a result, three levels of development have been proposed (with sets of lexical units, grammatical categories and skills for each level).
