Improving the industrial safety of hazardous production facilities operating in the North requires a comprehensive consideration of the impact of natural and climatic factors specific to this region on risk parameters. Low temperatures and abnormal weather conditions in the North have a significant impact on both the frequency of accidents and their progression. The abnormal weather conditions in the North are characterized by strong temperature inversions caused by the radiation of permafrost at extremely low ambient temperatures during anticyclones, as well as stagnant air conditions. The article presents a model for assessing the individual risk of accidents in above-ground sections of gas pipelines, taking into account the abnormal weather conditions in the North. The potential and individual risks of an explosion of a methane gas-air mixture in an open area and thermal injury are evaluated.
