In this article the ways of motivating students to learn a foreign language with the help of musical culture are discussed. Music helps to reduce the level of emotional tension while studying a foreign language language and culture in general. The article provides theoretical rationales for using the integrated type of lesson in practice and gives examples of techniques used by the author in the English language class.

The article is devoted to topical issues of patriotic education of students studying at a medical university and the organization of educational work at the Department of Philosophy, Bioethics, History of Medicine and Social Sciences of Smolensk State Medical University.
