In this article the ways of motivating students to learn a foreign language with the help of musical culture are discussed. Music helps to reduce the level of emotional tension while studying a foreign language language and culture in general. The article provides theoretical rationales for using the integrated type of lesson in practice and gives examples of techniques used by the author in the English language class.

The article presents the results of an empirical study of the formation and development of cognitive interest while teaching a foreign language. The evidence of significance of web-quests in modern foreign language education is given in this article. Particular attention is paid to the main types of web-quests for developing cognitive interest.
