Shungite is a unique stone that is mined in one region of the world, the Republic of Karelia. The area of shungite application is quite wide, but the shungite market is poorly studied and no detailed reviews have been conducted recently. The relevance of the research topic is conditioned by the fact that the mining complex of Karelia (which includes shungite mining) brings about 40% of revenues to the budget of the Republic of Karelia. With the development of tourism, the growing recognition of the region in the world, the development of technology increases the volume of shungite sales. The article studies the companies that are engaged in mining and production of goods from shungite. The authors analyzed the companies' activities, calculated CR and Herfindahl-Hirschman market concentration indices, considered sales directions and application areas. The authors con-ducted a comparative analysis of companies engaged in shungite mining and processing. It is re-vealed that the shungite processing market is moderately concentrated and belongs to the monopo-listic type of competition. Entry to the market has certain barriers: capital investments, product certification. The authors have identified the main sales destinations for shungite and shungite products, which include the countries of Western and Eastern Europe, as well as the countries of North America.
