The article deals with the problem of the development of phonemic processes in preschoolers with general speech underdevelopment. The importance and significance of this problem for the development of children is determined: their cognitive functions, cognitive activity and, most importantly, for further learning to write. The author suggests a number of methods and techniques of speech therapy to overcome phonemic disorders in these categories of children.

The article discusses the problems of speech development of older preschool children in the context of violations of the phonemic system of speech. The interrelation between phonemic processes and the development of the pronunciation side of speech, vocabulary, grammatical structure of the language, and the development of writing and reading is reflected. The directions of speech therapy work on the correction of the phonemic system of speech, proposed by domestic and foreign scientists, are analyzed. A set of traditional and non-traditional technologies and techniques for correcting phonemic speech disorders has been selected and the results of testing this complex on the basis of a preschool institution are presented, confirming its effectiveness.

the article presents the results of an experimental study of the level of development of phonemic processes in modern older preschoolers with phonetic and phonemic underdevelopment. It is revealed that there is a lag in all components of phonemic processes – phonemic perception, analysis, synthesis, representations. Complex forms of phonemic analysis and synthesis, phonemic representations turned out to be the most impaired, while phonemic hearing and phonemic perception suffer to a lesser extent. The necessity of purposeful speech therapy work on the further development of identified shortcomings is determined.
