In the present article, the development of phrasal speech in ontogeny is considered. Specific defects of phrases in children with general underdevelopment of speech are noted. The authors make brief analysis of methodological recommendations for the examination of phrasal speech. They propose the parameters for the study of the phrase condition in preschool children with general underdevelopment of speech.

This article deals with types of speech - external and internal, ways of its development. The features of oral and written speech are revealed. The main directions of development of speech of younger schoolchildren are indicated. The functions of speech are considered - expressive, significative, intellectual, communicative. Speech features of children of primary school age are revealed and structured.
