The paper focuses on a model of developing jazz repertory technique on specialized saxophone classes at the higher education institutions. The author analyzes Russian and foreign jazz study guides concerning text interpretation; discusses theoretical questions on jazz compositions’ rendition; provides recommendations on performing compositions close to their originals.

The article provides an analysis of the concert piece (music for the anime “Castle in the Sky”) by composer Joe Hisaishi. The timbre palette of the anime “Laputa Castle in the Sky” is very rich; the composer uses a synthesis of acoustic and electronic sounds.
