This article presents some aspects of the evolution of valeological knowledge in Russia since the end of XX century and at the present time. Special attention is paid to the key for valeology of the term “health” from the perspective of scientists-founders of valeology and its modern understanding.

In the article the concepts "valeology", "approach", "valeological approach", "reflection", "assessment", "health" are considered, examples of how to build a lesson with elements of valeology are presented. The directions of valeology and ways to organize a valeological approach to assessing the achievements of a junior schoolchildren are also examined.

In the article the concepts of "health", "emotional health", "valeology" are considered, the relationship between health in the generally accepted concept and emotional health is traced. The factors of emotional health, ways of its preservation and diagnostic methods for determining emotional states in preschool children and younger schoolchildren are presented and described.
