In article the value of a voice as psychological and acoustic phenomenon reveals. The main characteristics of a voice are considered, and the contents of nonverbal information which they fix in themselves are defined.

The article discusses data on the state of voice function in patients with functional dysphonia. Particular attention is paid to patients whose professions depend on the condition of their voice and speech, and who in most cases are diagnosed with some form of dysphonia. The author presents the results of the study of patients with voice functional disorders.
