The authors view the methodological approaches to teaching foreign languages and give the definition of a teaching method. The authors consider that for the formation of communicative competence of students it is necessary to search new methods of teaching and substantiate the appropriateness and effectiveness of unifying of communicative and intensive methods in the process of teaching Russian language. The authors also describe the features and principles of intensive communicative training.

The author deals with the process of cultural creative development of students in the process of formation of foreign communicative competence, which is viewed as building the ability for creative research through active communicative modelling communication patterns in the system of another language, learning foreign cultural phenomena and consolidation of the national cultural experience. The author shows the components of forming creative potential while developing communicative competency, defines certain patterns of pedagogical activity in the process.
