The article presents the results of an empirical study of manipulative tendencies in communication of a preschool child with adults and peers. It is shown that children of older preschool age, using methods of manipulation in communication, perceive their family situation as unfavorable. Parents of children-manipulators also have medium and high levels of propensity to manipulate. Of the two parents, mothers of preschool children are more susceptible to manipulation by children.

The article is devoted to family relations. Divorce is considered as a non-normative family crisis, the main causes of family conflicts are analyzed. The author says about the advisability of psychological counseling for the family in the period of non-normative family crises; provides a variety of methods for solving family crisis. One problem may have different solutions; therefore, an individual approach to family counseling is necessary, taking into account the characteristics of the family.

The authors describe the structure of educational motivation for primary school students and the classification of family relationships, and present quantitative and qualitative analysis of the results of an empirical study.

When people marry, each of the spouses has a developed system of individual principles that can influence the formation and development of family relations; the study of this relationship can help to increase the effectiveness of marriage and family counseling practice. The aim of the study was to study the relationship between the meaningful sphere of the personality and satisfaction with marriage. The results of practical research have confirmed the existence of this relationship between the studied objects.

The article deals with the semantic aspects of the English proverbs about family and family relations. The significance of the research lies in that the proverbial expressions help us understand the role of family in society and the meaning of family relations for an individual. The proverbs describing various aspects of family life have been selected by the method of continuous sampling and analyzed from a semantic point of view. They reflect such functions of family institution as reproduction, parenting, meeting everyday and emotional needs of family members. Preservation of the proverbial expressions about marriage and family relations in oral and written speech of our contemporaries proves that family remains the basis of modern society. Studying the English proverbs about family makes it possible to understand the family values of the English people, while comparing them to their Russian counterparts proves that these values actually coincide.
