The paper is devoted to the study of the proverbs picture of the world with the key token of “promise” in English language. This topic is important in modern linguistic science. The aim of the paper is to establish the main features of lexical components in the language and to define the ethnic identity of analyzed proverbs. The proverbs in this research have been analyzed in the framework of cognitive approach. The English proverbs reflect a social way of the peoples’ life.
