Based on the material of phraseological units of the Belarusian and Russian languages with an onym component, their analysis is carried out, making it possible to identify common and distinctive features in the choice of onyms in phraseological units of each language. The stable value content of culture, its categories and meanings is established, the interaction of the language and culture of each people is revealed.

The article examines the role of proverbs and sayings in the Russian language, their structural and stylistic features. An analysis of some phraseological units is carried out based on their various classifications.
