Social intelligence is one of the most important factors of successful social adaptation of a person; this concept reflects the level of ability to understand other people, predict the consequences of social interaction, as well as build their own behavior depending on the situation for productive interaction with the social environment. This article is aimed at studying the features of the social intelligence of adolescents studying in a residential educational institution.

The article provides a detailed analysis of the positive and negative impact of teenagers' stay in the virtual space, raises the question of changing their consciousness under the powerful pressure of social networks. The article is devoted to the currently relevant topic – aggression of adolescents. The article examines the problems of the family as a source of aggressive behavior of schoolchildren: problematic aspects of single-parent families, problems of lack of a proper example of behavior on the part of parents, overprotection of parents over their children, problems of totalitarian upbringing of parents of their children. Within the framework of solving these problems, it is proposed to conduct classes with parents to study the pedagogical foundations of child rearing and timely taking measures of responsibility to parents who do not perform parental duties.
The type of settlement is one of the mesofactors of the socialization process. The article describes in detail the peculiarities of the influence of the city and village on the process of socialization of adolescents. Special attention is paid to the consideration of the signs that distinguish the urban lifestyle from the rural one: lifestyles, social circle, family ties, opportunities for social mobility and a number of others. Having considered the specifics of the process of socialization of adolescents in urban and rural conditions, the author concludes that each of these types of settlements has its advantages and disadvantages.
The article presents the results of an empirical study of the relationship between aggression and emotional intelligence in adolescent children with different levels of Machiavellianism. The study sample was 79 respondents. As a result of the study, a relationship was established between aggression and emotional intelligence in adolescent children with different levels of Machiavellianism. It is proved that in adolescents with different levels of Machiavellianism there is a relationship between aggression and emotional intelli-gence, and the nature of this relationship also changes.
