The authors discusses the features of the development of leadership potential of high school students and the features of interrelation between leadership potential and personal qualities of high school students. The authors describes the experience of training work for the development of personal qualities and leadership potential and determine its effectiveness.

The article is devoted to the problems of modern management, namely characteristics of the modern manager. Based on various approaches to this question, the author considers that the main direction of all manager’s characteristics is his competitiveness. The competitive manager has not only professional competence, legal and information knowledge and general culture, but leadership and enterprise skills, is capable to continuous personal development and to promote development of others. Investigating qualities of the manager, the author offers the vision of the competitive manager and conditions for his formation. Such manager has to become a key figure in Russian economy modernization.
