The article is devoted to the study of the author's transformations of phraseological units that are used in N. Taffy's stories. Examples of transformations of phraseological units by ways of replacing a component, contamination, implication are given, the purpose of which is generalization, concretization of the image, showing different aspects of life and destinies in the text.

This article describes the features of working with phraseological units in English lessons. The evidence of significance of phraseology in the development of foreign communicative competence of students is given in this article. Particular attention is paid to the classification of methods for studying phraseological expressions.

Medical terminology is one of the specific layers of vocabulary, which, due to the peculiarities of the structural-semantic, derivational and stylistic nature, differs from commonly used words and, thus, occupies a special place in the lexical system of the Russian language. The article proves the need to create an educational and methodological apparatus for the terminological training of medical students, describes the possibility of expanding the range of terms studied.
