The article theoretically describes agricultural English, which is designed to serve the needs of a specific professional field. Rural English is defined both as a linguistic variation from a sociolinguistic point of view with a specific linguistic system, and as a language of foreign language teaching for specific purposes. Therefore, language for professional purposes focuses on studies of linguistic variation in a particular subject area, while the other focuses on educational and training needs. The analysis of lexical units of agri-cultural English in different communicative situations is characterized by the use of com-monly used vocabulary, replacement of terminology, use of short forms instead of full ones, agricultural terminology, Latin terms and colloquial language. The grammar of a pro-fessional language does not differ from the laws of formation of the grammatical structure of speech segments of a commonly used language. However, we note the most frequent use of direct word order in a question, characteristic of colloquial speech, verbs in the Pre-sent Continuous Tense, modal verbs to express the meaning of an assumption and other grammatical features.
