This paper considers new lexical units – neologisms, which are one of the ways to reflect the development of the language and society as a whole. When learning any language, it is very important to know neology. The article contains a comparative analysis of neologisms in Russian and German, during which the main models and reasons for the formation of neologisms, as well as their distinguishing features, are considered.

The article is devoted to the study of socio-political vocabulary in the translation lessons. The process of teaching socio-political vocabulary is proposed to be organized in three stages, at each stage the student is given a set of specific tasks and exercises aimed at studying, training and further using socio-political vocabulary in the professional sphere.
The article is devoted to the problem of language changes, namely, changes at the level of vocabulary in the modern Russian language. The most striking processes in the field of vocabulary, such as semantic transformations, the formation of new phraseology, metaphorization of the language and the process of foreign language borrowing, are presented in the article. The description of the processes is accompanied by examples from periodicals.
The article deals with techniques for working with tropesduring teaching Russian as a foreign language. Stepwise introduction of figurative meanings of wordsis considered into the lexicon of a foreign student. The analysis of visual and expressive lexical means is given on the example of the text of landscape lyrics, their functional connection is determined with the idea of the poem. The influence of foreign student’s assimilation of secondary meanings of wordsis actualized on their cultural outlook.
