The article is focused on the methodology for empirical data analysis that was collected during the sociophonetic experiment. For that purpose, the native speakers of German recorded their oral speech. They produced a number of sentences, which contained the stimuli words – the borrowings from the English language. It will allow to highlight the pronunciation features of the respondents in a most objective way. Thus I can determine cases of sound substitution, elision, epenthesis, and accentuation in accordance with the rules of mother tongue.
The study focuses on the problems of aliens' adaptation in foreign countries; on challenges they face after moving from other countries; on process of adjustment to different living standards and culture. Interest in the problem of adaptation in other cultures got practical value in 1950 s. This was due to the increase in migration, and also students and experts exchange between countries in that period. The number of people going to study abroad (schools, colleges, universities) is increasing year by year nowadays. Authors have analysed such phenomenons as "cultural shock" and “acculturation” to look at nature, to find the reasons and consequences of the intercultural adaptation of foreigners who moved to Russia and became residences.
The article examines the interactions of different cultures against the backdrop of rapid globalization and active migration of the population around the world. Since intercultural conflicts lead to imbalances in society, and in some places to the loss of national identity, accul-turation strategies that migrants choose for their own adaptation to life in a multicultural environment are very important. The article presents the concept of intercultural interaction and, accordingly, four acculturation strategies proposed by the Canadian scientist J. Berry, namely: assimilation, separation/segregation, marginalization and integration. It is determined that the integration strategy is considered the most successful. At the same time, it is acceptable only in a society with a relatively low level of prejudice, positive relations between different cultural groups and a wide range of cultural values.
