The article deals with the study of functioning and the characteristic role of metaphors in the W. S. Maugham's novel «The Painted Veil». The purpose of the article is to analyze the features of metaphors in the novel of the British writer William Somerset Maugham «The Painted Veil». The article defines the concept of "metaphor" and its main types. It is argued that the metaphor is used in the literary texts to give the statement an emotional and expressive tone. The article discusses metaphors of a literary text and the features of metaphors use in a literary text.
This article attempts to analyze the linguistic and stylistic features of communication in the social network "Vkontakte", which has a great influence on the modern Russian language. The purpose of the study is to identify expressiveness and violations of spelling norms of speech in the texts of correspondence, comments and statuses of this social network. The constant development of technical capabilities and the process of mastering borrowings largely determine the features of network communication and are clearly reflected in speech.
In the article, the authors set themselves the goal of showing the Russian-speaking reader the beneficial influence of S.A. Yesenin on the development of Uzbek literature, in particular, on the work of the people's poet of Uzbekistan Muhammad Yusuf. Russian and Uzbek poets are spiritually close. In addition, they are brought together by the ability to express themselves succinctly, in simple language, at the same time expressively. The authors express their confidence in the relevance and scientific promise of the topic raised.
