The article is devoted to the analysis of the stylistic and cognitive aspects of metonymy and synecdoche in the modern Ukrainian prose. The author identifies the productive types and models of metonymic transfer and analyses their role in endowing a literary text with expressiveness.

The constant development of technical capabilities and the process of mastering borrowings largely determine the features of network communication and are clearly reflected in speech.
