The article is devoted to the analysis of the stylistic and cognitive aspects of metonymy and synecdoche in the modern Ukrainian prose. The author identifies the productive types and models of metonymic transfer and analyses their role in endowing a literary text with expressiveness.

It should be noted that synecdoche in Kyrgyz proverbs compared to metaphor and metonymy is used as an artistic means and is realized with various semantic methods. This kind of expanded synecdoche use in Kyrgyz proverbs is analyzed in this article.

The article deals with the way emotive-evaluative constructions function in D.A. Medvedev’s blog in Telegram. The paper shows a high stylistic potential and an obvious satirical effect of lexical, syntactic and phonetic tropes frequently used by the political blogger and ex-president. Historical, biblical and literary allusions are viewed within the context of linguacultural information they render and cultural associations they might arouse. The role of original, sustained and trite metaphors in Medvedev’s posts as a key manifestation of his individual manner is also in the focus of the given paper.
