The author considers current trends of pedagogical communicative culture’s development as an essential component of professional competence of the teacher in Russian higher education, new requirements for the level of scientific and practical thinking of modern higher school teacher.
The article shows the prerequisites and the need for multicultural education at school. The bases of multicultural education on the example of domestic and foreign researches are analyzed. The problems arising during its implementation in the pedagogical process are noted. Attention is drawn to the insufficient willingness of the teaching staff of schools to work in the conditions of multicultural education. The main emphasis was placed on the American education system, as the level of ethnic, religious and cultural diversity in this country is quite high, and the teaching experience is extensive.
The article argues the need for the development of multicultural education in Russia, as one of the directions of the humanization of society. The authors name the components and reveal the essence of the proposed reform of education in the direction of its multiculturalism, namely, they insist on improving educational programs, textbooks, teaching methods, as well as creating an appropriate system of educational institutions. The goal of multicultural education is named – the formation of planetary thinking through awareness of oneself as part of an ethnic group, state, humanity. However, the values of national education remain traditional – family, school, teacher.
This work summarizes the experience of teaching the subject "Military regional studies in English" at the Petrozavodsk Presidential Cadet School in the context of multicultural education and professional orientation specifics of the educational institution.
