The article is devoted to the issues of studying a foreign language by students of primary school age in the system of additional education. This paper gives a brief description of the program "Spoken English for Junior Students", discusses its goals and objectives. The author describes the conditions for implementing the program and the main difficulties.

The article is devoted to the difficulties of poetic translation of English poetry. The work offers literal and poetic translations of English authors’ poems, and examines typical cases of the divergence of the English language with the Russian during translation. The authors distinguish the characteristic features of the poetic text translation.

The article examines the advantages of a communicative approach in teaching foreign language on a non-linguistic faculty and the necessity to learn dialogical speech and its features. The importance of the grammatical component in the construction of utterances, as well as the use of clichéd phrases for both social and professional-oriented successful communication is noted. The authors describe the sequence of exercises that are suitable for the establishment of communicative competence for students who study at a non-linguistic higher school institution.

The paper is devoted to the problem of subject translation in a specialized text. The author offers possible and the most difficult f eatures for the translation of a subject and cases of discrepancies with the native language.
